• Chocolate and Wine Tasting at Spier Wine Farm

So this weekend I had my first wine tasting experience! I’m not a big fan of wine and I can’t really tell the difference between the different wines. We just decided, spur of the moment, to Google what time Spier Wine farm closes and we went straight over. We decided on the R65 Chocolate and Wine tasting. The chocolates looked so interesting that I opened all 3 of them. They were dark malted cherry, white cardamon and passion fruit, and white peppered plum. Each of these had to be eaten with 2 different wines. The first with 2 red wines, 2nd with 2 white wines, 3rd with a sparkling white…

  • Keep Calm and Trust Lindsey

Hey guys, I hope you all are well.  I’m mystery blogger X, but you can call me Snoopy.  Thank you Lindsey for inviting me to do a guest post in your corner of the web. It’s always a pleasure to be in the company of such a lovely host.  This is my first visit so I’ll try to keep it short and engaging. I often try to have a unique perspective on things, especially when it comes to series I watch or the books I read. Whenever there is an opinion about something I always ask myself “Does this person really enjoy this, or are they just trying to fit in?”…

  • Goodbye Hunger Games

I read the Hunger Games series maybe 2 years over a period of 2 weeks. I remember feeling so down and dark after finishing. It’s quite a dark, grim, series so it’s to be expected. The end of the war has lots of death and maybe one twist but overall the ending in anticlimactic. That is not a bad thing. The end is still satisfying for me. I really enjoyed the movie adaptations as well. This past weekend I watched Mockingjay Part 2 at The Scene at the V&A Waterfront my sister and my friend Alaric. It was true to the book and a great adaptation. A quick look…

  • West Side Story Memories

The best theatre production that I have ever seen has to be the South African production of West Side Story. I saw the play in August 2015 at the Artscape Opera House. What an amazing venue! South Africa needs more theatres of this size and with this type of infrastructure so that amazing plays such as these are able to tour the country. We have such amazing talent in SA but we have limited means of displaying that talent. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, the tale is set in the Upper West Side neighbourhood in New York City in the mid-1950s. The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets…

  • The Fandom Life

I think the first fandom I’ve been a part of was maybe The Little Mermaid fandom. I loved the movie and watched the cartoon almost every afternoon. I also read the book which was a companion to the movie. I remember my mother buying me this massive collection of Disney books in a thin, “golden treasure chest” box. The books were huge and each page was roughly the size of an A2 paper. It contained 101 Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, Bambi, and my favourite, The Little Mermaid. It was easy to spot the book that I read the most because of the dog ears and stains! I don’t…
